Balancing Cost and Production Stability

Lower unit cost may come from reducing setups, improving workholding, combining operations, selecting appropriate stock or adjusting non-critical features. Each proposal should be reviewed against function and tolerance requirements before implementation.

Tolerance is feature-specific.
Capability depends on part size, geometry, material, setup and inspection method. Critical ±0.01 mm requirements can be evaluated from the drawing, but should not be applied as a blanket tolerance to every feature.
